Directions
- Place 4 cloves of garlic in a small saucepan with enough oil to cover the cloves.
- Heat over medium heat until the garlic starts to gently brown, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the garlic from the oil and save the oil for later use.
- Drain and rinse the chickpeas and the Lentils.
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, lentils, roasted garlic, lemon juice, and tahini. Blend until smooth, around 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, and Gladstone Chipotle Hot Sauce to the food processor.
- Blend again until fully incorporated and the hummus has a smooth texture.
- Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, blending after each addition until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning if needed. You can add more salt, lemon juice, or hot sauce to suit your taste.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a splash of olive oil and some additional hot sauce, sprinkle with chopped fresh herbs or crispy chickpeas if desired.
- Serve with pita bread, crackers, fresh vegetables, or as a spread for sandwiches and wraps.
The hummus will keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in a sealed container.
